In 1921 the father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi informally used the tricolor flag in all congress session. The tricolor flag was with three color red, green, and white with charkha in middle of the flag. But this flag was not officially adopted. The Mahatma Gandhi used this flag almost every time.
Congress had decided to adopted tricolor flag in 1931 in Mumbai session. The tricolor flag had three colors saffron, green and wheel. Finally the present tricolor was adopted in 1947 in national assembly.
